Battle hardened and battle ready is the Cartier Tank watch line. This particular line was developed during World War I – its design being inspired by the tanks of that time. Cartier presented the prototype watch to General John Pershing for his approval. The watch has been a growing success ever since. It is so renowned it even has its own Wikipedia page. Its styling is even similar to that of a military tank. This is of great interest to us due to the fact that one of our family was in tank warfare at the Battle of the Bulge. You would be very fortunate to own one of these – they can be found on eBay at prices exceeding $ 14000. Some can be found at a lower price.
The replica Tank can be found at a much lower price. Several stylish models are available from Watch Replica. Particularly true to form is the Americaine Tourbillon CR-157. It is a great replica of the watch line and available to buy on the internet. The Art Deco style dial harkens back to the time just before when this line began. A circular cut-away on the dial also shows the intricate inner movement.
